Meet the Greenlandic sled dog

One of the closest relatives to the wolf, the Greenlandic sled dog has been refined to be one of the strongest working dogs in the world through more than a millennium.

In Sisimiut, it has been the primary means of winter transportation for centuries, but had a hard time in the 70’s and 80’s due to the introduction of snowmobiles. Yet 60 years of engineering is hardly a match for more than one thousand years of optimised design and breeding: To this day, the dog sled, though not as fast, still surpasses any other winter terrain vehicle in terms of reliability (and cuddliness).

Meet and pat the Greenlandic sledge dog, while the guide and dog owner will tell you about dog sledding and its numerous advantages.
