Danes win The Polar Circle Marathon in Kangerlussuaq

On 23 October, 70 runners from 18 countries with ice spikes strapped to their running shoes lined up to run The Polar Circle Marathon – The Coolest Marathon on Earth.

Glacial lake is suddenly emptied

On 11 September 2010, the lake at edge of the Ice Cap (also known as an ice-marginal lake) was suddenly emptied. This happens every or every second year, most recently in August 2008.

Last cruise ship of the season

On 7 September, the last cruise ship of the season arrived at Kangerlussuaq harbour.

Toilets at the Ice Cap

On 9 July, WOGAC set up four composting toilets close to the Ice Cap.

New book about hiking around Kangerlussuaq

The book “Hiking around Kangerlussuaq/Søndre Strømfjord” describes the history and nature of the area as well as a number of hiking routes of varying length.
